WHAT IS MAC HELPMATE?
MacHelpMate is a tool that allows an Appleseed troubleshooter to provide technical support to you remotely. With a couple mouse clicks by you, we can see exactly what you are looking at, and in many cases fixes the problem immediately.
HOW DOES IT WORK?
You launch MacHelpMate and click on the Appleseed logo. You must initiate the screen sharing session. This will send all of your necessary connection details to my copy of MacHelpMate. Within a few seconds, work is underway.
IS IT SAFE?
Yes, for several reasons.
- You must initiate the screen sharing session. Screen sharing is not running until you hit "Go".
- You always have the option to hit "Stop" to quit the screen sharing instantaneously
- I'm the only one who has the password that can log into your Mac with MacHelpMate.
- In addition to the password, there's a unique "key" that gets generated each time you hit "Go", and it only works for one session.
- The "conversation" that happens between our two Macs is encrypted, meaning even if someone wanted to peak at what we were doing, it would take them hundreds years to decrypt the connection.
COST
MacHelpMate is free to existing Appleeed customers! Actually it's a pay-for subscription service that we figure into the total cost of doing business. Time spent doing Remote Support is charged by the quarter hour based on your current billing rate. Depending on the situation, we may require a credit card # before beginning service, to be charged at the conclusion of the session.
